Missing the Waldorf Splendor!
The Waldorf has such a special place in my heart and mind. I loved hearing about its history from my elders growing up, then as a young adult I was invited to attend annual fund raisers of the Black Alumni Pratt which whould have a celebrity guest list that was the talk of the Town!
Each year I’d attend the black-tie gala with the likes of Martin Scorsese, Russel Simmons, Iman, Malono Blahnik, Hon. David Dinkins, Gerald Levert, Kate Whitnet, Ruby D, etc. The gala’s were always held in the Starlight room and were always a full house and most sought after ticket thanks in part to the location of the Waldorf Astoria. Location is everything.
I also loved when I would bring my kids and nephew to Easter Brunch at Peacock Alley. Oh what a feeling it was to walk through the Park Avenue entrance, through the doors into the grand lobby and into the restaurant. From the wait staff to the delicious variety of food and desserts and the huge chocolate egg all was right with life.
I can’t wait to experience the Grand opening in 2023! God willing my family and I will be right there fine dining once again.
