The gold standard pillows
2011
Our English family loves to travel, and to America especially.
One vacation we decided to visit New York and to stay at the Waldorf (where else does one stay in New York City?). There was a little confusion when it came to getting our room. On the first night, our initial room flooded from the AC on the 33rd floor of The Towers, so we were off to a rocky start, but all was forgiven and forgotten when we were presented with our new room.
For some reason, I distinctively remember the pillows being different in this newest room. They are the pillows that all other pillows have since been measured against. They were not too soft nor too firm, they allowed your head to sink into them and be coddled, but not suffocated or unsupported. They instantly became a hit and the gold standard of hotel pillows we have encountered all over the world.
Unfortunately for us, we have been unsuccessful in finding a hotel that has beaten your pillow quality, including the Balmoral in Edinburgh, Scotland which has a pillow menu. I dream about your pillows, and I wish to return one day soon.
